South Korea will take part in NATO cyber exercises for the first time.

South Korea is taking part in international cyber defense exercises hosted by NATO for the first time to strengthen cooperation with the alliance in this area, South Korea’s defense ministry said on Monday.

The annual NATO exercise Cyber ​​Coalition 2023 takes place in Estonia from November 27 to December 1.

 

They are attended by 35 NATO members and partners, as well as the European Union. The exercise is aimed at strengthening the allies’ joint ability to counter threats in cyberspace.

 

Last year, South Korea was an observer at these exercises, and this year it is directly participating.

South Korea’s Cyber ​​Operations Command has sent three troops to Estonia for training, and another eight are participating virtually.

It is noted that in July the Individually Tailored Partnership Program (ITPP) was adopted, under which South Korea and NATO are increasing cooperation in 11 areas, including cyber defense, counter-terrorism, disarmament and non-proliferation, development of new technologies and others.
