Brazil called on the new head of Argentina to apologize to Lula da Silva.

Brazil called on the new head of Argentina to apologize to Lula da Silva.

The new President of Argentina, Javier Miley, should apologize to the leader of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, for offensive statements addressed to him, says Minister and Head of the Brazilian Public Relations Department Paulo Pimenta.

“I would contact him only after he apologized to me. He unjustifiably insulted President Lula. As the elected president, he should call and apologize. After that happens, I would think about the opportunity to talk,” Pimenta said to journalists.

On Sunday, far-right politician Javier Miley won the Argentine presidential election; his victory was recognized by his opponent Sergio Massa.

Miley stated that in his foreign policy he intends to focus on cooperation with the United States and Israel, while ceasing ties with Argentina’s main trading partners – China and Brazil. The politician motivated this by the fact that he did not want to do business with communists and socialists. At the same time, Miley more than once personally criticized Lula da Silva, calling him “corrupt.”

Lula da Silva himself yesterday wished good luck to the new leader of Argentina, Miley, despite the fact that he does not intend to maintain and develop relations with Brasilia.
