South Africa’s ruling party will support the proposal to close the Israeli embassy.

South Africa’s ruling party will support the proposal to close the Israeli embassy.

The ruling party of the Republic of South Africa (RSA), the African National Congress (ANC), said it would support a parliamentary request to close the Israeli embassy in the country.

The opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party said its leader Julius Malema will make the request in Parliament on Thursday.

“Given the ongoing atrocities in Occupied Palestine, the African National Congress will agree to a parliamentary request calling on the government to close the Israeli embassy in South Africa and suspend all diplomatic relations with Israel until Israel agrees to a ceasefire and commits to negotiations facilitated by the UN, the outcome of which should be a just, sustainable and lasting peace,” the ANC statement said.
