The European Commission has lowered its forecast for economic growth in the EU.

The European Commission, in its autumn economic forecast published on Wednesday, lowered its estimate of GDP growth in the EU countries in 2023 to 0.6% from 0.8% in the summer forecast, and in 2024 to 1.3% from 1.4%, respectively. ,  the EC press release says.

“Overall, according to the autumn forecast, GDP growth in 2023 is expected to be 0.6% in both the EU and the euro area, which is 0.2 percentage points lower than the European Commission’s summer forecast… In 2024, EU GDP growth expected at 1.3%. This is also a downward revision – by 0.1 percentage points compared to the summer forecast,” the document states.


It is reported that in 2025, against the backdrop of falling inflation, EU GDP growth is expected to accelerate to 1.7%.
