Iran demanded the urgent restoration of the Rafah checkpoint.

Iran demanded the urgent restoration of the Rafah checkpoint.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, during an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (ECO) in Riyadh on the situation in the Gaza Strip, called for the immediate and unconditional restoration of the Rafah checkpoint for Palestinian refugees.

“We demand a complete lifting of the blockade of Gaza and the unconditional opening of the Rafah checkpoint for Palestinian refugees,” the Iranian president said.

Rafah is the only border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. In the middle of last week, foreign citizens were able to leave the battle-torn Gaza Strip through this checkpoint. On the same day, the evacuation of the wounded from the Gaza Strip began.
