The United States wants to limit Trump’s ability to comment on the election case.

The US prosecutor’s office has filed a lawsuit with a proposal to establish rules for posting on social networks for former US President Donald Trump in order to avoid disclosure of investigative information that could put pressure on participants in the process.

Prosecution in high-profile 2020 re-evaluation case alleges that if Trump starts posting “public posts using details or, for example, transcripts of grand jury hearings obtained as part of the disclosure of evidence, this could have an intimidating effect on witnesses and adversely affect the administration of justice.”

“Such restrictions are especially important in this case, since the client has previously made public statements on social media regarding witnesses, judges, prosecutors and other persons related to the legal claims imputed to him,” the prosecutor’s office says.

Prosecutors drew the judge’s attention to Trump’s Friday post: “If you’re coming for me, I’ll come for you!” The press service of the ex-president later stated that the publication on the Truth Social social network referred to Trump’s ideological opponents, including from the ranks of the Republican Party, and falls under the definition of “political speech”.
