War psychosis reigns in Brussels politics, Hungarian Foreign Ministry says

Brussels’ policy is erroneous and harmful, because “military psychosis” reigns there, which means the danger of an economic crisis, Tamas Menzer, State Secretary of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry responsible for bilateral relation said.

“The policy of Brussels is bad, misguided and harmful. Brussels wants and supports the continuation of the war, war psychosis reigns there, which means physical, energy and economic danger, crisis and threat. On a global scale, supporters of peace are in the majority, but, unfortunately, not in transatlantic world,” Mentzer wrote on social media.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said earlier that on June 24 he received information about events in Russia directly from Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Russian and Belarusian Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Aleinik and passed it on to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Hungary has consistently opposed sanctions on Russian energy resources and the shipment of weapons to Ukraine. In March 2022, the Hungarian parliament issued a decree prohibiting the supply of weapons to Ukraine from the country’s territory. Szijjarto explained that Budapest was seeking to secure the territory of Transcarpathia, where ethnic Hungarians live, since the supply of weapons through its territory would become a legitimate military target. The country’s leadership has repeatedly stressed that Hungary stands for the early start of peace negotiations
