German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that US President Joe Biden has a good chance of being re-elected to his post, and also praised the development of transatlantic cooperation under the current US leadership.

“I believe that President Biden has a good chance of being re-elected,” Scholz said at the European Forum hosted by WDR.

At the same time, the chancellor stressed that Germany should be ready to cooperate with any US government.

“I believe that we have very close transatlantic cooperation with the current US president. I think that this should be very well understood in Germany, that this is not something taken for granted, but a great success that we have come this far,” Scholz added.

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 2024. Incumbent President Biden officially announced in April that he was running for a second term to “finish what he started” and launched a campaign website. The previous president, Donald Trump, also announced in November 2022 that he was entering the race for the presidency.
