Warsaw claims Britain canceled Johnson’s visit to Poland

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s visit to Poland has been canceled at the request of the British side, according to the Polish Government Information Center (CIR).

Earlier it became known that Johnson’s planned visit to Poland was canceled after Warsaw said that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki did not have time to meet with him. The agency claims that the British and Poles discussed several possible dates for the event, tentatively agreed to hold it on August 8, and as early as last week Downing Street believed that the visit would take place.

“Polish-British consultations were to be held on July 11 in Warsaw. At the request of the British side, after the decision of Prime Minister Boris Johnson to resign, they were then canceled and will be organized after the formation of a new cabinet in the UK,” CIR said in a statement.

Johnson, who replaced Theresa May as prime minister in 2019, announced on July 7 that he was stepping down as prime minister and head of the UK Conservative Party. He will serve until the appointment of a new head of the Cabinet.
