Stoltenberg canceled visit to Berlin

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg canceled a trip to Germany without explanation, during which he was scheduled to meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the press service of the German Defense Ministry said.

“The NATO Secretary General informed that he unexpectedly canceled a visit to Berlin,” the ministry said.

The briefing with Stoltenberg was mentioned in the announcement of Scholz’s events, which was distributed by his office on Thursday morning. It was supposed to pass in Berlin at 12:00

The program of the NATO Secretary General’s visit also included a meeting with German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht.

As Deputy Spokesman for the German Cabinet of Ministers Wolfgang Buchner reported on June 3, the central topic of the meeting between Scholz and Stoltenberg was to be the preparations for the June NATO summit in Madrid. They also planned to discuss the Russian special operation in Ukraine and its implications for Euro-Atlantic security.
