The EU has promised support to Serbia on the issue of energy supplies, President Aleksandar Vučić said on Thursday during a visit to Belgrade by the head of the European Council, Charles Michel.
⠀
Michel is in Serbia on a working visit, where he held a closed-door meeting at the General Secretariat (Administration) with the Serbian President.
“We talked about the problems of supplying Serbia with energy resources and received certain guarantees and important words for us from President Michel that we can count on EU support on this issue,” Vucic said at a joint press conference after the meeting.
⠀
He reiterated several times that he expects more energy price increases and difficulties in the global economy.
⠀
“Therefore, the interconnector with Bulgaria is important, we will finish our part before the end of the year with all the problems we face, and I hope that the Bulgarians will complete it before April-May next year, then there will be another channel for receiving gas, or rather an opportunity,” – pointed out the Serbian leader.
⠀
“At the same time, we are thinking about how to get oil, because we don’t know what the new sanctions packages that the EU will adopt will be. And as you know, the owners of our Serbian oil industry are Russian companies, and so on, and so on. “Vucic said.
