Roger Federer named World Sportsman of the Year 2017 at Laureus Award ceremony

Roger Federer is a really lucky guy who used to work hard and persistently. that is why he was named World Sportsman of the Year 2017 at Laureus Award ceremony in Monaco. 

The Laureus World Sports Awards is considered the Oscars of the sporting world, both Princess Charlene of Monaco and her husband Prince Albert attended the ceremony. the host of it was unbelievable British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Swiss tennis player and 20-time tennis grand slam champion Roger Federer has won another award – the 2017 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year. One more achievement is The Comeback of the Year award, Swiss’s Comeback of the Year award was presented by Boris Becker who named Roger the greatest athlete of the world. While accepting the statuette, Roger said:

“I didn’t believe I would ever come back to this level,”

and added that 2017 he had was something else.

Federer won the statuette of The World Sportsman of the year 2017, for which were nominated really tough guys like  Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) football, Mo Farah (GB) athletics, Chris Froome (GB) cycling, Lewis Hamilton (GB) Formula 1, Rafael Nadal (Spain) tennis.

Another tennis legend, Serena Williams, also took the World Sportswoman of the Year, the American athlete won her 23rd grand slam in 2017!

“This means the world to me. The comebacks are always extremely emotional. Last year was a dream come true,”

Serena said. The audience applauded her, knowing perfectly that for Serena, the most important achievement of the year 2017 was her little daughter Olympia. The tennis legend gave a birth to her first child and later married to her father, Alex Ohanian.
