Cara Delevingne Jimmy Choo advert Shimmer in the Dark called ‘sexist’

Cara Delevingne Jimmy Choo advert Shimmer in the Dark called ‘sexist’

Cara Delevingne’s recent work for shoe brand Jimmy Choo caused a stir on the social media. The video featuring the British model was called ‘sexist’.

Cara Delevingne’s character in an advert being whistled at on the streets of New York, the video Shimmer in the Dark isn’t a masterpiece, frankly speaking. Jimmy Choo has more interesting and bright advert ideas, while that one has been labelled “sexist” in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

The advert Shimmer in the Dark is boring, there is an only contrast between the shimmering Cara and NYC’s old pavement. These boots were made for walking, but Ms Delevigne’s character looked strange. An advert shows the actress in a red mini dress and glittery sock boots as men tell her she looks great. Some have called the advert “tone deaf”.

“Perhaps now is not the best moment to run an ad about how cool and sexy catcalling is?”

a Twitter user wrote referring that Cara was a key part of the #MeToo movement, which was formed in the wake of allegations made against Harvey Weinstein. While Delevigne criticised the Hollywood mogul, saying he had made her feel uncomfortable on a number of occasions, he only has admitted his behaviour has “caused a lot of pain”.

After Jimmy Choo advert Shimmer in the Dark, the words of Cara sounds a bit weird, her fans suggest. Some admirers say the advert glamorises catcalling because it shows men complimenting Cara Delevingne’s appearance and wolf whistling at her.

Some people are questioning the appropriateness of the ad, given the national spotlight on sexual harassment stemming from the bombshell allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. People branded the ad as “sexist,” “clueless,” and “tone-deaf” on social media.
