Russian jets kill over 200 IS militants near Syria’s Deir al-Zor

The Russian jet attacked a long convoy of IS vehicles and killed over 200 jihadists of the group. The militants were heading towards Deir Ezzor city, the Russian Ministry of Defence reports.

The official statement claims that Russian jets have conducted airstrikes against a large Islamic State column during its heading towards the city of Deir Ezzor. The airstrikes killed at least two hundreds of jihadists, destroyed scores of vehicles in the process. The Rissian Ministry of Defence reported that in its official statement.

According to the statement, the airstrikes against the IS column destroyed not only 200 militants but twenty special utility vehicles with large-calibre weapons and mortars as well as a number of armored vehicles including tanks.

Lst week, the IS divisions were pushed out of the south of Raqqa Province and the west of Homs Province, so far IS is concentrating its forces around city Deir al-Zor. The Syrian land forces and the Russian air force are continuing their joint operation against the militants, said the Russian Ministry of Defence.
