Hosni Mubarak, the ex-president of Egypt, has been freed from detention where he spent the last six years. On Saturday, the 88-year-old man had the first breakfast together with his family.

Hosni Mubarak was sentenced to life in 2012, the Egyptian court verdict read that dictator Mubarak is guilty of the death of more than 800 protesters in 2011. According to Egyptian Femida, many protesters died at the hands of security forces during the uprising called Arabian spring.

Ex-president Mubarak left a military hospital in Cairo and went to his home in the northern suburb of Heliopolis. According to the lawyer, Egypt’s top appeals court cleared his client over the deaths of protesters in the 2011 uprising. He had been at Maadi Military Hospital since 2013 when he was transferred there on bail from Torah prison.
