The White House issued a statement amid rumors of Biden’s death.

US President Joe Biden held several meetings with security officials on Monday, the White House said.

“Biden received a briefing on homeland security from Liz Sherwood-Randall, Assistant to the President and Advisor for Homeland Security. In addition, the President received a briefing on national security from his adviser, Jake Sullivan. Both briefings were held virtually,” the report said.

Last week, the American leader contracted the coronavirus and disappeared from the public sphere. According to official information, he is in self-isolation at his residence in Delaware. Representatives of the Republican Party demanded that the authorities, amid speculation on social networks about Biden’s alleged “death”, provide evidence that he is alive.

On Monday, US Vice President Kamala Harris said that the head of state’s health had improved and he was recovering quickly. In turn, Biden’s attending physician noted that his patient’s coronavirus symptoms “have almost completely gone away.”

The day before, the current head of the White House announced that he would not fight for re-election from the Democratic Party, but intended to serve until the end of his term. At the same time, Biden supported the candidacy of his vice president Kamala Harris in the presidential election. Republican candidate Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that Harris would be much easier for him to defeat.

Everything will be decided at the US Democratic Party Convention, which will be held from August 19 to 22 in Chicago. The procedure for selecting a new candidate will be virtually arbitrary: there is no mechanism for appointing a successor to a yet-to-be-confirmed US presidential candidate.
