Emirates airline Etihad Airways canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut on Sunday, the Abu Dhabi-based airline said in a statement.

“The flights were canceled due to the closure of the airport in Tel Aviv and the situation in the region. The airline is monitoring the situation and is in contact with local authorities,” the statement said.

At the same time, the Emirati air carrier Flydubai redirected today’s flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv to Ramon Airport in southern Israel; the return flight was cancelled.

Emirates airline canceled the morning flight to Beirut from Dubai, the afternoon flight departed as scheduled.

The Lebanese Hezbollah movement and Israel exchanged missile strikes on Sunday. Hezbollah said more than 320 rockets and dozens of drones were fired, targeting a total of 11 Israeli military installations, including those in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights. The Israeli military said that about a hundred Defense Forces aircraft destroyed more than a thousand Hezbollah shells aimed at northern and central Israel.

UN peacekeeping forces called on the parties to the conflict on the Lebanese-Israeli border to immediately cease fire and return to compliance with the agreements under UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
