South Korea is voting on presidential impeachment.

Only one lawmaker from the ruling Civil Power Party is present in the meeting room of the National Assembly of South Korea for the vote on the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, according to footage of the Internet broadcast of the plenary session.

After voting on a special investigation into the wife of President Kim Gun Hee, all ruling party deputies left the voting hall. This bill was ultimately not adopted; 102 representatives of the “Civil Force” spoke out against it.

Earlier, representatives of opposition parties prepared and submitted a resolution to parliament to impeach the president, accusing him of attempting to violently seize power and exceeding official powers due to the introduction of martial law without proper grounds and in violation of the law.

To impeach a president, 200 of the 300 votes of the National Assembly are required. The opposition has a total of 192 votes; for a successful vote, the participation of at least eight deputies from the ruling party is required.
