The Sims: no more gender barriers

The Sims: no more gender barriers

The creators of “The Sims” are opening up gender customization options for the first time in the long-running history of the popular life simulation video game. The popular simulation game “The Sims” developer Maxis said a free update available Thursday will remove gender barriers in ‘The Sims’ and allow to create virtual townsfolk. From now, any type of physique, walk style or voice is available for actors.

In its earlier versions “The Sims” restricted the aesthetic choices like male or female roles, e.g. clothing and hair trends. That’s why publisher and Maxis decided to change the game and to ruin the gender barriers.

The studio Electronic Arts stated it wanted to “make certain participants can create characters they can identify with or relate to through powerful instruments that give them influence over a Sims’ gender, age, ethnicity, body type and more.”

Actually, earlier versions of “The Sims” have featured character customization restrictions based on gender, but unofficially users have often modified the popular game to get rid of gender restrictions. The new version is extremely flexible, so there’s no need to modify, everything’s done by the creators.

An Executive producer Rachel Franklin said that the developers have been running for over a twelvemonth on the update. Renewed female Sims can look like DeGeneres, and male Sims can wear high heels like Prince, why not? Moreover, at any time user can switch the gender of Sim, the life simulation is so fun!
