Japan accused China of violating its airspace.

A Chinese Y9 reconnaissance aircraft violated Japanese airspace, and self-defense fighters were scrambled in response, the Japanese mass media report, citing representatives of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

According to the agency, the airspace violation occurred at 11.29 local time in the area of ​​the Goto Islands in the Sea of ​​Japan. According to representatives of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Chinese military aircraft was in Japanese airspace for two minutes – until 11.31 local time.

It is noted that in response to the airspace violation, fighter jets of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force were scrambled, which, as noted, took measures, including a warning.


The NHK television channel, citing sources in military circles, clarifies that the Chinese reconnaissance aircraft had already left Japanese airspace by the time Japanese Self-Defense Force fighters arrived on the scene.

The Japanese government sent a strong protest to China through diplomatic channels in connection with the incident.
