Damage from flooding in Lower Silesia in southern Poland is estimated at almost a billion dollars, the head of the voivodeship, Maciej Awierien, said at a meeting of the crisis headquarters.

According to the authorities, the damage amounted to three billion 655 million zlotys.
⠀
“These data concern 25 districts and two cities,” Avižen said, emphasizing that some areas are still struggling with flooding and the numbers may increase.
⠀
Since the end of last week, southern Poland has been hit by abnormally heavy rains. Rivers overflowed their banks, populated areas were flooded, and several deaths were already reported. People are being evacuated from flood areas and a state of emergency has been introduced there.
⠀
The heaviest impact of the disaster fell on the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and its administrative center Wroclaw. The flood wave is currently passing through the city of Brzeg Dolny. In Wroclaw, according to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, the water level is decreasing.
