South Korea and Japan agreed to continue cooperation.

Acting President and Prime Minister of South Korea Han Deok-soo on Thursday had a telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, during which the parties agreed to continue cooperation to develop South Korean-Japanese relations and maintain trilateral coordination with the United States against the background of deepening cooperation between the Russian Federation and North Korea, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

“All future government affairs will be conducted strictly in accordance with the Constitution and laws. Our government will consistently implement its foreign and defense policies,” Han Duk-soo emphasized during the conversation.

The parties agreed to continue to cooperate to ensure that South Korea-Japan relations are steadily maintained and developed… In addition, they agreed that in the face of the threat of North Korean nuclear weapons and deepening cooperation between Russia and North Korea, it is necessary to maintain close coordination between South Korea and Japan , as well as in the South Korea-USA-Japan format,” the statement says.

It was also agreed to continue the necessary interaction to successfully prepare for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan next year.

Earlier, the South Korean parliament supported the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol. In this regard, his powers are temporarily suspended, and the Constitutional Court will consider the issue of removing the president from office. The court will have 180 days to do this, and Prime Minister Han Duk-soo will become the acting head of state until the final verdict is made.
