EU countries agreed on sanctions against representatives of Georgia.

The EU countries have agreed on visa restrictions for holders of official and diplomatic passports of Georgia in connection with the situation in this country; a corresponding proposal from the European Commission will be received before the end of this year, EU diplomacy head Kaya Kallas said following a meeting of the EU foreign ministers.

“We agreed on the need to suspend the visa-free regime for holders of diplomatic passports. Already this year, the European Commission will prepare proposals. We also discussed the introduction of sanctions against Georgian officials who are responsible for violence against participants in peaceful protests,” she said.
