“A Qatari delegation of diplomats arrived in Damascus to complete the necessary preparations for the opening of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Syrian Arab Republic… During meetings with the transitional government in Syria, the delegation reiterated that the State of Qatar fully supports the brotherly Syrian people in achieving peace, security, development and prosperity after the success of the revolution,” the mass media said.

The delegation discussed with the Syrian side a possible increase in the volume of supplies of humanitarian aid to Syria, a representative of the Qatari Foreign Ministry noted.

Earlier, al-Ansari reported that the emirate would soon reopen its embassy in Syria, which has been closed since 2011 due to rejection of the policies of the country’s former president Bashar al-Assad. On Friday, a Qatari official source said that a high-ranking Qatari delegation will soon travel to Syria to discuss with the current transitional government the issues of resuming the work of the Qatari diplomatic mission in Damascus and sending humanitarian aid to Syria.
