As a result of Donald Trump’s comment that he will not be honoring the Fox News GOP debate, Fox News has hit back in its battle with the GOP presidential front-runner, saying, “He can’t dictate the moderators or the questions.” Still, the network said he’d be welcome at Thursday’s debate if he changes his mind about skipping it. Donald Trump is refusing to debate seven of his fellow presidential candidates on stage, as a result of co-moderator, Megyn Kelly.
Fox News calls Trump’s campaign manager to order
The campaign manager of Donald Trump was called to order by the news agency and calls the call for Megyn removal, a threat. “We can’t give in to terrorizations toward any of our employees. Trump is still welcome at Thursday night’s debate and will be treated fairly, just as he has been during his 132 appearances on Fox News & Fox Business, but he can’t dictate the moderators or the questions.”
Donal Trump’s campaign manager responds to Fox News statement
Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Lewandowski, blasted Fox News on Wednesday morning for what he said was unfair treatment of the Republican presidential front-runner, saying Thursday’s scheduled debate co-moderator Megyn Kelly ‘is totally obsessed with’ tarring and feathering the billionaire. Trump has pulled out of the debate and will be looking at getting victory in Monday’s Iowa caucuses. According to the dailymail, Corey Lewandowski said the ‘repercussions’ of how the network treated his boss will be felt in TV ratings as the feud between Trump and Kelly continues. ‘Maybe Fox was going to have a 20 or 25 million person debate,’ he said ‘but without Mr. Trump’s participation I think they might have a 1 or 2 million person debate.’
Trump’s campaign threatens to host other campaigns
Lewandowski said other campaigns have asked about the possibility of joining Trump’s boycott and participating instead in a promised fundraiser for military veterans, and ‘it’s very possible’ the Fox news debate stage could be missing more than just one candidate. ‘We’ve had calls from many of the candidates now who say, “Look, why would we participate in the Fox debate?” as well,’ he said.
