Tom Cruise supports The Outward Bound Trust (OBT) over a long period of time, and last week the Hollywood star was honoured to meet personally the royals in Buckingham Palace, where Tom attend a special dinner.
The ‘Mummy’ star Cruise attended a dinner marked the 75th anniversary of the charity organisation OBT. Last Wednesday, the Hollywood superstar was invited as a surprise guest at a dinner hosted by Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. While the guests were celebrating the anniversary, Tom Cruise and the 95-year-old Duke of Edinburgh struck up a fast friendship, whole evening both men chatted with each other and laughing like the boys.
Prince Philip and the surprise guest Mr Cruise both were photographed several times, laughing together. Despite the sad period of a life (Tom lost his mother last month) and grandeur of the royal evening, the actor looked charming and relaxed as he spoke to the dinner’s host. The only thing Tom did wrong is putting his hands in his pockets at one stage. Buckingham Palace’s protocol doesn’t accept it.

The OBT charity was set up to help young people from all walks of life develop and reach their real aim through outdoor pursuits. It also offers them the chance to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Prince Philip has been patron of the Trust since 1999, and was previously the charity’s Chairman of Trustees.
