Jimmy Kimmel to host 2017 Academy awards

Jimmy Kimmel as the ABC’s marquee late-night host will be host the 2017 Academy Awards, Variety informed. The comic has hosted major several awards shows in the past, but this will be his first time hosting the Oscars.

The host of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ has a great experience how to host awards ceremonies like Emmy and ESPYS. The upcoming Academy awards show will be the first one for Mr Kimmel, this ceremony to be produced by Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd.

According to Ben Sherwood from Disney/ABC Television Group, Mr Kimmel got a big endorsement for the role back in September. Jimmy’s ability to elevate the show on the highest level as a host was appreciated by the channel’s top management. Ben Sherman stressed:

‘We thought Jimmy elevated the Emmys. We thought Jimmy has earned it, and we’re very hopeful that Jimmy will get [the Oscar hosting gig].

The choice of Jimmy reflects the growing influence of the Alphabet in the relationship with the Academy over the awards show. The new $75 million deal between the two entities, which was renewed in August through 2028, gives the Academy final say on producers, hosts and other production decisions.

Mr Kimmel confirmed this wonderful news on Monday.
