Former US President has commented on the Kremlin’s tactic regarding the Ukrainian issue. On Tuesday, Donald Trump labelled the Russian invasion of parts of Ukraine as an act of “genius”, 9News reports.
During the conservative talk radio program interview, Donald Trump praised Vladimir Putin’s strategy. Saying that he knew the Russian President “very well” and that Russian soldiers on the ground would be the “strongest peace force”.
“Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,” Mr Trump said during his interview The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show.
The former US leader added that Putin’s strongest peace force is a good example, so, Americans could use that on their southern border.”Here’s a guy who’s very savvy… I know him very well. Very, very well,” Trump added.
However, the former President went on to say that Mr Putin would not have made the move while he was still in the Oval Office.
Mr Trump’s remarks come hours after his successor Joe Biden announced he was ordering heavy financial sanctions against Russian banks and oligarchs. As many times before, he said more sanctions could be on the way if Mr Putin proceeds further.
The US President Biden said he was also moving additional US troops to the Baltic states on NATO’s eastern flank bordering Russia.
