Damascus Airport has temporarily suspended all flights.

Damascus Airport has temporarily suspended all flights.

The largest airports in Syria – in Damascus and Aleppo – suspended operations until December 18 and 17, respectively, after the cities were captured by militants, according to the NOTAM alert.

“All flights from and to Damascus International Airport are suspended from December 8 until December 18,” the aviation NOTAM said.

A similar alert applies to Aleppo Airport – all flights are suspended until December 17.

International flights have recently operated from Damascus Airport. They were carried out by Syrian Air and Cham Wings.

The situation with the Latakia airport remains unclear; the air harbor in the city of Qamishli in the north of the country is controlled by Kurdish SDF forces – flights to Damascus and Beirut were operated from it.

Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali earlier said that he and several ministers remain in Syria; they do not know where the country’s president and defense minister are. The prime minister said that he had established contact with the leadership of militants from the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham who entered Damascus.
