Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has demonstrated his low level as diplomatic person and discourtesy. He snubbed the US president, but later Duterte regretted about his words. It is not the first time when Duterte allows himself to use the taboo vocabulary, although he is the head of state and an example for his people.
Rodrigo Duterte is expressing regret after his rude invectives against President Barack Obama prompted the White House to cancel planned bilateral talks between the two leaders.
On Monday, the mass media of the world informed that Duterte cursed Obama as a “son of a bitch”. On Tuesday, the Duterte’s spokesman released the statement, in which Philippines President regretted “it came across as a personal attack on the US President.”
The both presidents Obama and Duterte have plans to meet each other in Laos, but after such an abandon behavior of Duterte has questioned this meeting on the fields of the meeting of Southeast Asian leaders. Rodrigo Duterte regrets: “We look forward to ironing out differences arising out of national priorities and perceptions,” but his previous statement had an opposite meaning:
“Who does he think he is? I am no American puppet. I am the president of a sovereign country and I am not answerable to anyone except the Filipino people.”
