The Prime Minister of Iraq arrived in Syria on an official visit.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani arrived on Sunday on an official visit to Syria, he was received by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian leader’s office said in a statement.

In early June, the press service of al-Sudani reported that Assad had invited the Iraqi prime minister to visit Syria.

“At an official reception ceremony at the Presidential Palace, President Bashar al-Assad received Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, who arrived in Syria on an official visit at the head of a delegation,” Assad’s office said.

According to the statement, Assad is holding talks with the Iraqi prime minister on bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, as well as issues of mutual interest.
