The head of WHO reported the threat of famine in Gaza amid Israeli shelling.

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the Gaza Strip is facing famine amid shelling by the Israeli army.

“Gaza faces famine amid ongoing shelling,” the head of the WHO wrote on the social network X.

He called for food and medicine to be allowed into the enclave and for medical facilities to be protected.

“To stop the ongoing tragedy, immediately cease fire and ensure full humanitarian access,” Ghebreyesus added.

According to the media office of the administration, controlled by the Palestinian Hamas movement, more than 2 million residents of the Gaza Strip are currently “suffering from severe shortages of food, water, medicine and shelter.”
