Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the BRICS summit in South Africa’s Johannesburg would provide a platform to discuss the problems of the Global South.

“Going to South Africa to attend the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg. I will also attend the BRICS Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus events. The Summit will provide a platform to discuss the Global South and other areas of development,” Modi tweeted on his page in the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The BRICS summit will be held in Johannesburg on August 22-24 with the participation of the leaders of China, India, Brazil and South Africa. Russia will be represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he would participate in the summit via videoconference.
