Yerevan has received Baku’s response to Armenian proposals on the draft peace treaty, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said on Wednesday.

“You know that the Armenian side submitted to the Azerbaijani side the fifth proposal on a draft agreement on establishing peace and normalizing relations. It was our turn, and we did it. And just yesterday we received proposals from the Azerbaijani side,” Mirzoyan said during the government hour in parliament

According to him, discussions continue, but there are no face-to-face meetings. “There are significant issues on which the positions of the parties are still far apart,” Mirzoyan said.

Last year, Yerevan and Baku, through the mediation of Russia, the United States and the European Union, began discussing a future peace treaty. At the end of May 2023, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that his country recognizes the sovereignty of Azerbaijan, along with the territory of Karabakh, on a total area of 86.6 thousand square kilometers.
