Taiwan accused China of creating threats to navigation security.

Taiwan accused China of creating threats to navigation security.

China’s sending of balloons into the Taiwan Strait poses a serious security threat to many international navigation routes, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense said on Saturday.

Earlier, the department reported that on Friday, the Taiwanese military detected two Chinese balloons after they crossed the so-called “median line” of the Taiwan Strait. In the last month, the appearance of Chinese balloons in the Taiwan Strait area has become more frequent.

“This poses a serious security threat to many international navigation routes,” Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense said in a statement on its website.

The agency also condemned the fact that “the Chinese Communist Party neglects flight safety and the safety of passengers on flights across the Taiwan Strait and international flights.”

“We urge you to immediately stop this practice for the sake of ensuring flight safety in the region,” the department said.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense claims that the purpose of the Chinese balloons near the island is an attempt to use cognitive warfare to influence the morale of the island’s residents.
