Several people were injured by glass fragments shattered due to explosions at an ammunition depot in Nea Anchialos in central Greece, Greek state television ERT reported.

“Several residents of Nea Anchialos have been injured by shrapnel from broken windows, four ambulances are on site and some residents are leaving the area in their boats,” ERT reported.

According to him, the authorities are calling for the closure of gas stations near the site of the emergency.

ERT reported that due to the fire at the ammunition depot, explosions are constantly heard, they can be heard as far as Volos.


According to it, these are Air Force ammunition depots.


Explosions began at 17:45, they are heard in the city of Volos and almost all over Magnesia. The fire has been raging in this area for the second day.

Explosions shattered windows in many houses, mainly in Nea Anchialos, and the shock wave that reached Volos forced many residents to leave their homes.


The distance from the airport to Volos is about 20 kilometers.
