Katy Perry, her UNICEF award from Hillary Clinton’s hand

Katy Perry, her UNICEF award from Hillary Clinton’s hand

Katy Perry got her first humanitarian award on Tuesday, while Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance at UNICEF’s Snowflake Ball. Mrs Clinton honoured the singer with the program’s Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award.

Katy Perry is one of the proactive Hillary’s biggest celebrity supporters, so Clinton’s appearance was absolutely surprising and unexpected. Katy became a winner of Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award in 2016. The statuette was handed over by Hillary Clinton personally. Of course, it was a great honour for the young singer.

Mrs Clinton’s participation was unannounced going into Tuesday night’s gala, she said while her introducing Katy Perry:

‘She is serious about understanding the complex problems we face and pulling people together to solve them. We need champions like Katy now more than ever: her passion, her energy and, yes, her voice, louder than a lion,’

a reference to ‘Roar’.

Ms Perry was the first celebrity who endorsed Clinton for president in October 2015 and campaigned for the candidate at numerous fundraisers and rallies.
