Silvio Berlusconi left the hospital after the urgent op on Monday, the 82-year-old said he is ready to fight in the European parliamentary elections for Italy’s better future, The Local Italy reported.
The veteran politician and media mogul thanked his doctors at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan and promied to spend the time more productivaly in the weeks to come. Silvio Berlusconi vowed to fight European election, adding he is fine after the surgery for a bowel obstruction.
On Monday, the former three-time prime minister was released from hospital. In his statement, the politician emphasized he hasn’t yet reached “the end of the line” and will continue campaigning for the EU elections.
“Many things have happened recently that made me think I had reached the end of the line, but instead I’ve recovered amazingly well,” he said.
Mr Berlusconi is known for being involved in a caleidoscope of scandals of sexual and financial nature. Last Tuesday, the 82-year-old politician felt the acute abdominal pain and was admitted to Milan hospital. That unexpected health incident forced Berlusconi to miss a rally of his Forza Italia party ahead of this month’s European parliamentary elections.
“I promised those who looked after me: I will campaign for the elections,” Mr Berlusconi said on Monday, though he added that he would limit his appearances to television, radio and newspaper interviews, rather than attending public rallies.
The world-famous Italian is known as “the immortal” for his longevity in politics led the Italian right for more than two decades.
