Donald Trump agrees to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong Un

Donald Trump agrees to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong Un

Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un will meet each other soon, the schedules of both leaders include this historical moment already. The news about Trump-Kim summit meeting even stirs concern in Asia, New York Times reports.

The warming of North and South Koreas relations made many changes in the foreign policy of the United States, too. Despite his previous diabolic expressions about NK and its leader, President Trump tweeted on Friday:

‘Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearisation with the South Korean representatives, not just a freeze.’

President Trump’s acceptance of Kim Jong Un’s invitation to a summit meeting clearly marked a diplomatic victory for South Korea’s president Moon. No doubt, Moon’s efforts to steer the nuclear crisis from talk of war toward negotiations.

“Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time. Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached. Meeting being planned!”

Donald Trump added in his recent tweet.

North Korea and South Korea improved their relationship day by day

This week was historic for both Koreas, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said a meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Kim would be a “historical milestone” that will put the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula “really on track”.

On Monday, talks showed again that the diplomatic dialogue is still a powerful tool for neighbouring states that really have intentions to improve their relations.

Meanwhile, the latest attempt to open a dialogue between the Pyongyang and Washington comes after Mr Kim hit out at the US in his New Year’s address and referred to the “nuclear button” on his office desk.
