The Suits star Meghan Markle is actively starting her integration into the royal family. On Thursday, Prince Harry’s fiance has already ignored the protocol when she stepped out her first official black-tie evening engagement.
Miss Markle has continued to prove she won’t be letting protocol get in the way of her own style, her Thursday outfit looked perfect but it was the demonstration of her own vision of dress code, not a royal one. Meghan accompanied Prince Harry to their first official black-tie evening engagement – dressed in a suit.
Harry and Meghan arrived the Endeavour Fund Awards, a black-tie event honouring servicemen and women, on Thursday night in black trousers and a tuxedo shirt by designer Alexander McQueen – and she looks effortlessly chic and totally wrong. Despite the protocol failure, the actress Markle was smiling while taking cover under a grey umbrella.
The actress’ Alexander McQueen-designed suit cost £1,245 for the grain de poudre wool, satin-lined blazer and £575 for the matching trousers. Meghan did her best and accessorised her suit with vertiginous Jimmy Choo black heels and a Prada clutch.

Despite the fantastic look of Meghan, her black suit was the totally wrong choice for that protocol event. The ex-actress has definitely a good taste but now she is soon-to-be royal and should understand the importance of protocol, especially when she accompanies Prince Harry, her future husband.
Although her outfit is unique, Markle’s choice to wear a suit instead of a dress, which would be typical for a black-tie event, is not surprising – considering the future royal’s recent history of straying from the royal protocol in favour of remaining true to herself.
Holding on to her identity, the former Suits star has previously made headlines for appearing in public with a messy bun, mismatched earrings, and a purse rather than a clutch.
Designer Lucas Armitage told that Meghan’s choice of outfit for her red carpet debut proves she was mindful of not stealing attention away from the Duchess of Cambridge who stepped out the same day in Oslo.
‘She hasn’t had her princess moment in an amazing gown, but then maybe she felt she didn’t want to steal thunder,’
he explained.
‘Navigating royal etiquette is probably fairly hard so playing it safe is always a good option.’
