Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and the members of the British royal family attended the Royal Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday. Princes William and Harry skipped the festival.
The annual event gathered the entire royal family, pregnant Duchess Kate was also spotted during the Royal Festival of Remembrance. The wife of Prince William donned a simple black coat and poppy in honour of Britain’s war heroes. Queen and Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke of York attended the event, as well as Prince Charles with the Duchess of Cornwall. The son of Queen and his wife flew back from an Asian tour, during which they visited Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and India this week.
For Prince Charles, the Royal Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall gave a rare opportunity for a preparation for the significant symbolic moment in his progress towards becoming king. In a rare move, he will take the Queen’s place to lay the head of state’s wreath at the Cenotaph on Sunday in remembrance of Britain’s war dead.
Despite the official retirement this summer, Prince Philip wanted to attend the event as a spectator, he personally accompanied the Queen, his wife. Kate Middleton’s husband Prince William didn’t attend the annual festival but the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge looked gorgeous and showed her new maternity chic.
British royal family at the Remembrance Day
The November event commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein and the creation of the RAF Regiment. The weekend was full of events dedicated to the memory of the fallen British heroes.
On Sunday, the Windsor family watched from a balcony as Prince Charles lays a wreath on her behalf at the Cenotaph. Charles is to lead the nation in honouring the country’s war dead. It is believed to be the first time that the Queen has opted not to perform the duty herself. Later in the day, the Earl of Wessex will take the Salute at the March Past of Veteran and Civilian Organisations on Horse Guards Parade.
